Hotel Saranac to Complete Multimillion-Dollar Renovation this Year
By Will Speros
The Hotel Saranac, now part of the Curio Collection by Hilton, is set to return to the Adirondacks before the end of 2017, following a multimillion-dollar overhaul from Wilton, New Hampshire-based design firm RSJ Associates. The refresh will celebrate much of the original design’s key highlights through a modern lens.
All 82 guestrooms will receive modern upgrades while also retaining the flair and opulence of the 1920s. Dark wood furniture, deep blue rugs, white linens, and rich textures will be installed and reflect a palette of deep reds and oranges. Bespoke, retro-inspired travel posters will adorn guestroom walls with symbols and signage native to the region. Twenty additional suites will open within the adjacent Compass Point complex in early 2018, and each accommodation will complement the architectural style of the building.
The hotel’s Great Hall will continue to anchor the second floor with its Palazzo-style design. Aligned with a style inspired by the 14th century Davanzati Palace in Florence, the Great Hall will feature ornately colorful grand beams that depict natural scenes with geese, hares, and fish. The room will also include an intimate fireplace setting and a bar influenced by the speakeasies of the 1920s.
