Hotel Saranac Joins Curio Collection
Historic Adirondacks property to get $5M redo
Hilton Worldwide announced the Hotel Saranac has joined its Curio Collection. Owned by Roedel Cos., the 89-year-old hotel in New York’s Adirondacks region will undergo a $5 million renovation before reopening in 2017. Updates to the property’s interiors will be spearheaded by RSJ Associates of Wilton, New Hampshire, with Freeman French Freeman of Burlington, Vermont, leading architectural design.
Hotel Saranac’s history includes a stint as a hospitality training center for Paul Smith College. For the update, contemporary design elements will be added to the 80 guest rooms in the hotel’s main tower. The renovation will also include the addition of 20 more guest rooms.
In a news release on Roedel’s web site about updates to the hotel in Lake Saranac, New York, RSJ president and founder Sue Pollio said her goal is to give its guest rooms “a modern touch and still maintain the feel of the ‘Great Gatsby’ era of sophistication and elegance.”
Upon reopening, the hotel will feature a spa, salon and fitness center, as well as a retail shop. Dining options will include Campfire and Adirondack Grill & Bar, designed by Group One Partners of Boston, Massachusetts. Plans also include restoration of the Florentine-style Grand Hall.
