More Than Just Business: Community Service is a Priority

Staff of Holiday Inn Mount Kisco Embodies Spirit of Service during First Year under Roedel Companies

WILTON, NH – When Mount Kisco Events at the Holiday Inn hosts the Tastes of Northern Westchester on Thursday, it will mark just about a year since Holiday Inn Mount Kisco opened under new ownership. It will also continue the spirit of community service that the hotel staff has established. In just over a year, the staff has hosted several significant community events, including serving as presenting sponsor of the Mount Kisco Sidewalk Sales Days in 2016 and 2017. The upcoming Taste of Northern Westchester, an elegant evening of fine food, wine and music, supports the charities of the Mount Kisco Rotary Club. Being actively involved in the community is a core value of Roedel Companies, the New Hampshire-based hotelier that owns the Mount Kisco property. “Roedel Companies didn’t just invest in the property,” says Loretta Brooks, Director of Sales at Holiday Inn Mount Kisco. “This is an investment in the community and we fully take advantage of our inherent hospitality mindset to be an active part of the community. It’s a great fit.” Being active goes beyond a monetary support of a cause. While the property was a presenting sponsor of Sidewalk Sales Days and the Kisco 5K road race that is part of the weekend, the staff also volunteered their time. They put on a free pancake breakfast during last year’s event, hosted a free petting zoo this year and also entered a team in the road race to show additional support of the Kisco 5K’s mission to strengthen community relations, fitness and health. “The spirit of community service is certainly alive in the heartbeat of the hotel team,” says Stephen Patton, who recently returned as general manager at Holiday Inn Mount Kisco. “We are truly service oriented and this is certainly in keeping with the core values of Roedel Companies.” The staff recently partnered with the Appalachia Service Project to help the family of two children who have a degenerative disease, and also volunteered to help set up for the Mount Kisco Childcare Center’s Feed Me Fresh fundraiser. “The hotel’s leadership has a unique connection to the local community and surrounding towns,” Brooks says. Brooks, for instance, is co-president of the Mount Kisco Chamber of Commerce and has regularly served on its board of directors, while Patton is a Mount Kisco Rotarian. “That is something very important to all of us,” Brooks says. “We strive to be active in the community and find ways to give back.”
