WILTON — In 1982, Fred Roedel moved his business, Chalet Susse, Inc., from Nashua to his hometown of Wilton. He sold that enterprise, a chain of 35 motels, in 2000 and formed the Roedel Companies, according to his son David, a partner in the company.

“Now we are on a new adventure,” David Roedel said. Although the company still owns and operates a line of hotels, “now we construct hotels for other people,” through a company called Total Hospitality Solutions.

This new company provides a full range of hotel development, including site selection and permitting, construction financing, franchise selection, design and construction management and hotel management.

The company also owns ROK Builders and oversees a $12 million project for The Moultonborough Hotel Group in Tilton, a Hampton Inn and Suites. “We started (this type of consulting) about two years ago,” Roedel said. “The hotels and motels (we work with) are individually owned, with a national franchise.”

Roedel Companies opened the Hilton in Manchester near the new ballpark, Roedel said, “and that is our home base hotel. We do work all over New England and the Mid-Atlantic States. We have also been doing some major renovations.”

He added, “When hotel investors started approaching us to ask if we would consult on their projects, we realized there was an expertise void we could fill, hence the launch of our Total Hospitality Solution.”

Roedel was being interviewed by phone from New Jersey where “I’m looking for some potential sites.”

The new hotel in Tilton will be a full service facility, the first of its kind in the area, which the developers hope will attract both business and vacation travelers.

Chalet Susse constructed, owned, operated and franchised a chain of Susse Chalet and Grand Chalet hotels throughout the eastern United Sates. The company has a successful 40-year track record in the hotel business. Roedel Companies owns, constructs and operates nationally branded hotels primarily in the limited, mid-service, upscale and extended stay segments through the eastern United States.
