InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) named Roedel Companies’ Holiday Inn Express & Suites in Merrimack in New Hampshire as “Renovation of the Year.” This award is given to hotels that merit special recognition for completing major modernization and improvement projects during the past year. The New Hampshire based-hotel owner/operators will be honored at the 2013 IHG Americas Investors & Leadership Conference in Las Vegas from Oct. 28 to 30.

The property, a former Fairfield Inn, was renovated and was reopened as a Holiday Inn Express & Suites in November 2012. The multi-million dollar renovation yielded updated guestrooms and bathrooms, a modernized lobby, expanded business center and new Express Start Breakfast Bar. A fitness center, outdoor pool and patio area were also added to the property. The building’s traditional New England exterior was preserved, while landscaping and a portico were constructed to enhance its façade.

The hotel is owned/operated by New Hampshire based Roedel Companies. ROK Builders, the hotel construction affiliate of Roedel Companies, oversaw the renovation. RGH Hospitality, the hotel management subsidiary of Roedel Companies, is running the Holiday Inn Express & Suites on behalf of the ownership. Group One Partners, served as architect, RSJ Associates as interior designer and Kahn & Bayer as structural engineer.
