Roedel to transform hotel at Manchester's gateway

New Hampshire-based hotel owner/operators Roedel Companies is teaming with Alta Properties to purchase the Clarion Hotel on Front Street in Manchester.

The property, which will undergo a multimillion-dollar renovation, will reopen as La Quinta Inn & Suites Manchester, featuring a 115-room hotel, banquet center and repositioned restaurant. The Clarion and Hart's Turkey Farm restaurant will close immediately so construction may commence as soon as the city planning and permit process is complete.

Slated to open in the fall, the property will become a rejuvenated gateway to Manchester, the companies said. The main entrance and lobby of the existing hotel will be relocated to the north side of the building facing Amoskeag Street. A meeting and banquet facility will be constructed in the current lobby and meeting room area. There also will be exterior improvements, new signage and landscaping.

"The proposed improvements for La Quinta Inn & Suites will effectively reposition the property, improve its functionality and provide much-needed conference space for Manchester," said Jay Minkarah, director of the Manchester Economic Development Office.

A workforce of 50 is expected to be hired during the construction phase. When the facility and Hart's Turkey Farm reopen to the public, approximately 60 full- and part-time employees will manage day-to-day operations, according to David Roedel, partner of Roedel Companies, which also owns and operates the Hilton Garden Inn Manchester, among other hotels throughout the Northeast.

"The location offers a superior opportunity to rejuvenate one of our city's important entry points," stated Roedel. "We are excited that this showcase development will be the cornerstone of a prominent gateway into the Queen City."
