A Stroll Down Memory Lane
Roedel Companies Completes Renovations to Fairfield Inns
WILTON, NH – Before he sold the chain in 2000, Fred Roedel operated Susse Chalet Inns throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic states. Roedel went on to found Roedel Companies, while many of his former properties were eventually converted to the Fairfield Inn by Marriott brand.
Now, more than 15 years later, the Roedel name is once again linked to a handful of these former properties.
Roedel Companies was recently responsible for the renovation of six Fairfield Inn properties that were once Susse Chalets: in Williston, Vt., Portsmouth, N.H., Amesbury, Mass., Woburn, Mass., Tewksbury, Mass. And Wallingford, Conn. Waramaug LS Hotels own the properties.
ROK Builders, a Roedel Companies subsidiary, was responsible for the renovations.
“Waramaug was looking for the kind of turnkey construction and project management services we specialize in, and our knowledge of the properties was obviously appealing,” says David W. Roedel, Managing Member of Roedel Companies.
Renovations began in 2015 and included the complete renovation of all 683 guest rooms and bathrooms, including the conversion of 75 percent of the bathrooms to shower only, expansion of existing breakfast areas and public areas, development of exercise rooms, new paint schemes, as well as extensive modifications to the exterior that include the addition of porte cocheres, upgraded parking lots and new landscaping.
“It was certainly fun to be involved in the project,” says Roedel. “I was able to see many of these properties go up and it’s great to have a hand in taking them to a new level.”
