What’s up at the Falls

NH Union Leader - Scene Page

We were happy to attend the grand opening and official ribbon cutting of La Quinta Inn and Suites last week. The catchy “What’s up at the Falls” sign first caught our eye months ago at the Amoskeag Circle, the site of the former Clarion Hotel and former home to restaurants Hart’sTurkey Farm and Hooters.

Since then, we have watched the property transform into a new hotel, owned by the Roedel Companies. The project’s website (www.whatsupatthefalls.com), created by Eisenberg, Vital and Ryze advertising agency, tracked the project and included a “construction cam.”

The grand opening attracted more than 100 people, who came to tour the building and celebrate the project with a champagne toast. Of course, the Roedel Companies were well represented by David Roedel, Brenda Edwards, Maureen Shelley, Martin LaGay and others.

Our thanks to the company’s Glenn Hardman for providing the Scene with a personal tour of the new hotel. Other familiar faces we spotted at the event included Jay Minkarah and Chris Wellington from the city’s economic development office, Robin Comstock and Will Stewart from the chamber, Steve Friedman from 92.5 The River, Judi Window from Granite State Ambassadors, and Stephanie Lewry from Intown Manchester.

To date, the project to bring a new restaurant and banquet space to the site has not been completed. We are eager to see what ends up there, and if developers are looking for our two cents, we hope it is a place that serves up a nice weekend breakfast.
